EMILIO APARICIO RODRÍGUEZ
I started my photographic career empirically when I was a soldier for the Colombian Army. During the service I was selected to be part of an international commission based in the Sinai Peninsula, Egypt for the MFO (Multinational Force & Observers) and there I started to shot with a camera instead of a weapon. Not only the cultural diversity but also the desert landscapes and the military life were the main facts whereby I decided to document everything with a camera. Since I returned to Colombia my interests in photography increased considerably leading me to study a career related with the image and also giving me acknowledgments and recognitions for my work. With the pass of the time I developed skills in most fields of photography; specially in portrait, street photography, photojournalism and documentary photography. During the third academic period I was awarded with a scholarship and by the end of the career I got an Honorable Mention for my final project. The experiences have brought me closer to the main tools of photography, such as psychology, visual language, concepts, lighting, composition, history, production and postproduction.
Nowadays I work as a photojournalist for the Colombian government but I’m still looking for untold stories, social issues and artistic projects around my country and everywhere; trying to find my personal identity and a different vision of the world.
